Paul Schmidt grew up in Arlington Heights and graduated from Northern Illinois University with a degree in Physical Education in minor in Sports Medicine. He worked for years an athletic trainer, certified. When he realized his passion for rehabilitation,  he then went to physical therapy school at Hogeschool Enschede (now Saxion University) in The Netherlands. After graduation he began working at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in the outpatient sports medicine department for 6 years. He became a team leader/assistant manager of the sports medicine program for four of those years. Paul then started working at Illinois Bone and Joint Institute at the Glenview office. Here he began and lead the sports medicine special interest group. While here Paul performed a study on high school swimmers at a particular high school that were having a lot of injuries. By taking three different measurements and adding three exercises to their exercise regime, the injury rate significantly decreased on the swim teams and the school won state that year. He then got the opportunity to present his results of his high school study at the Second International Congress of Shoulder Therapy in Brazil in 2009. After working for 16 years at Illinois Bone and Joint Institute he decided to start working in home health. Paul is very excited to join the team full time at Physical Therapy of Lake Forest.
